Search engine optimization ranking is the most crucial aspect in getting traffic and clicks on your website. There are different ways that this ranking can be improved. Some actions that can be taken to improve the SEO ranking according to https://www.semrush.com/blog/improve-seo/, are optimizing images, making the website mobile friendly, tracking metrics using Google Analytics, and adding new content based on keyword research. Arguably the most important out of these is focusing on content based on keyword research. Google Keyword Planner can be used to research the best keywords for your website. These keywords need to be relevant and placed in strategic locations of the website.
The keyword search that I conducted on Google Keyword Planner came up with relevant words related to my “seed” word “candle”. In relation to my website, I chose to analyze the keyword phrases of “scented candles”, “candle holders”, and “bath and body works candles”. This search can be seen in the picture attached to this post. I chose these words because they are all featured on my website at least once, so it would be insightful to have information on them. I use the keyword phrase “scented candles” while describing the candles sold on my website. The phrase “candle holders” is used because it is an item that can be bought on my website. Finally, “bath and body works candles” is used because my second blog post was an analysis of Bath and Body Works. All of these keyword phrases have high competition and average monthly searches of anywhere from ten thousand to one hundred thousand. High competition means that these words need to be placed strategically, and the high monthly searches means that these keywords are crucial to have on the website. The word “candle” shows up multiple times on my website. According to Google Keyword Planner, This word has high competition and has an average monthly search volume of one hundred thousand to one million. It is a good sign that this word shows up so much on my website since the search volume for it is high. Additionally, this word appears in my URL, title tag, and meta description. These are the most important places for this word to be placed because these components are what a person sees when the search results appear. Having it appear three times in this area could help improve my SEO ranking and have my website appear higher on the search engine results page (SERP). I was able to improve my SEO ranking score on https://www.seoptimer.com/. I did this a number of ways. I added more content which allowed for more keywords and keyword phrases to be placed on the website. Blog posts have been content on the website important to increasing the quality SEO rating. These blog posts not only included my keywords, but they also made my website have solid content that makes the SEO quality score increase. I added pictures and included alt text in their description to improve my ranking as well. Most importantly, I made sure that my keywords appeared frequently throughout the sight. These visits during the first quarter can be broken down into where the traffic was coming from. Direct traffic made up 50.8 million of the 80 million visits. Both paid and unpaid search traffic combined made up 15.3 million visits. Both paid and unpaid referral combined made up 9.9 million and paid traffic through Google Ads was 2.4 million. The fourth quarter traffic and visits were also recorded on SEMRUSH’s website. In the fourth quarter of the 2021 fiscal year, the Bath and Body Works website received 120.1 million visits on both mobile and desktop devices. The direct traffic came from 70.7 million of the visits. Both paid and unpaid search traffic combined came from 27.1 million visits. Both paid and unpaid referral traffic combined came from 15.4 million visits. Paid Google Ads traffic came from 4.1 million of the visits. The goal of conversion rates through a website is to increase revenue. According to stukent, a conversion rate is content that promotes a product that “should increase the sales of that product directly”. The website traffic should be proportional to the company’s revenue. Based on the information about the traffic during the first and fourth quarter, it can be seen that there was a conversion. The more visits that the website got in the fourth quarter resulted in more revenue than the first quarter. During the first quarter the company reported to have net sales of 1.469 billion dollars. During the fourth quarter the company reported to have net sales of 3.027 billion dollars. The big difference in online traffic between the first and fourth quarter resulted in over a billion more dollars in revenue. It is clear that revenue maximization was achieved for Bath and Body Works during the final quarter of the 2021 fiscal year.
